Plains Art Musem Presents 16th Annual National Watermedia Exhibtion
EXHIBITION ANNOUNCEMENT

704 First Avenue North, Fargo, North Dakota
America

14 May – 30 August 2009

Plains Art Museum and the Red River Watercolor Society (RRWS) present the 16th Annual National Watermedia Exhibition, which runs in the Museum’s William and Anna Jane Schlossman Gallery.

Since 1993, RRWS has been organizing this national exhibition. Each year the exhibition, juried by a prominent artist, showcases the wide variety of talent, cultural ideas and innovative approaches to the media of watercolor from around the nation. Edin is this year’s juror.

In 1995, Lake Region Arts Council awarded RRWS the arts organization award for its leadership launching and successfully maintaining a national-level, juried competition and for maintaining educational programs. This year, RRWS applied for and was awarded a $600 Special Projects Grant by the North Dakota Council on the Arts. This state funded grant program is designed to help arts organizations with training opportunities or for hiring consultants and technical or artistic directors. This program benefits artists by providing financial assistance for educational opportunities relating to the arts and arts development.

Edin is a nationally-recognized artist represented by several art galleries and with several books to her credit. She has published Scenes in Watercolor, Painting Around the World and Watercolor. She holds Signature Membership Status in the National Watercolor Society and the Transparent Watercolor Society of America. She has received such awards and recognition as Master Status at the NTWS 2004; First Place, International Competition—Professional Category; and the Virginia Weigand Award at the Rocky Mountain National Watercolor Society annual show in Golden, Colo. More information is available at www.roseedin.com.

RRWS serves watermedia artists in the Red River Valley area of Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota. This year marks the Society’s 20th anniversary. The volunteer organization serves to promote the interest, display and education in watercolor and other water-based media in this region and nationally through their flagship National Juried Exhibition. The Society was founded in 1989 and has grown to more than 180 artists. Its mission is to promote education, achievement and inspiration within the Society. The Society encompasses projects that encourage new artists and invite more community participation. It offers a variety of programs and opportunities that address many aspects of the art profession including business and marketing, exhibition, artist growth and enhancement of art experiences in the community.
