Deadline: 05 June 2009
The Crowbar Awards is once again calling for entries to its 2009 search for fresh blood in the creative field.
Going by 2008 rankings by the Association of Accredited Advertising Agents (4As), Temasek Polytechnic has received the most acclaim, followed by Nanyang Technological University and Singapore Polytechnic.
Following after these three institutes on the 2008 list are (in descending order): Media Design School (New Zealand), Nanyang Polytechnic, The One Academy of Communication Design (Malaysia), National University of Singapore, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, University of Sunderland (UK) and Lasalle College of the Arts.
Since 2001, the Crowbar has been a platform for individuals to showcase their best work and gain a foothold into the industry. First winners at the inaugural show like Raymond Chin and Gen Tan, are respectively, Creative Director at JWT Shanghai and a designer at Kinetic Singapore.
“Winning the Crowbar Awards has helped me meet the right people. They have inspired me and created opportunities along the way,” said Tan.
The 2009 Crowbar Awards is now accepting submissions. Last year, a total of 27 schools 18 local and 9 international participated.
“The creative industry is highly competitive and only the most talented succeed,” says Crowbar Awards 2009 Co-Chairmen, Justin Lim and Koh Hwee Peng of Grey Group. “We hope the schools can inspire their students to truly shine.”
Whoever tops the Crowbar Awards this year will get the chance to test their mettle in the real world with a 6-month internship. The winner will work at Batey Ads, a Grey Group company synonymous for creating iconic advertising such as the Singapore Girl.
Entry submissions begin now. Entry deadline is 5 June, 2009. Entry details can be found at www.crowbar.com.sg.
