Scanbuy, a mobile marketing solutions company, has announced that one of its 2D barcode projects has won an award from MediaPost's Digital Out of Home Media Awards. The award is for the category of ‘Best Integration with Mobile’ and the campaign launched in 2008 in partnership with Citysearch and Discovery Communications.
Mobile barcodes were distributed in San Francisco using a number of outdoor media tactics to provide people with immediate access to local information like restaurant reviews, weather updates, and landmark audio tours–all on the mobile phone. Discovery Communications used EZcodes (2D barcodes) on bus shelters and kiosks which linked to mobile audio tours for that specific neighborhood. Citysearch placed EZcodes at hundreds of restaurants which linked directly to their specific mobile site so potential customers could see the latest reviews of that specific location.
"Our partners used our technology to give their audience a more interactive and engaging experience from physical media, right when they needed it most," said Jonathan Bulkeley, CEO Scanbuy.
"We are very pleased that our ScanLife technology is getting recognition from the marketing and advertising industry, and we will surely see this kind of innovation continue in the near future."
Marketers and media providers have been using the ScanLife Code Management Platform to easily create and track 2D barcode campaigns. Non-business users can also create their own codes for free which link to their social networking sites or contact information. These codes can be placed on Web sites, business cards, and other printed or digital media.
