The Hollywood Reporter Signs Licensing Partnership With China
PRESS RELEASE

April 2009

The Hollywood Reporter has entered licensing partnership with Zong Yi, the entertainment trade magazine owned by the State Administration of Radio, Television and Film (SARFT) in China.

This is the first licensing deal between a major Chinese government-owned media organization and Nielsen Business Media. Through this licensing agreement, the SARFT run trade magazine will become the exclusive carrier of The Hollywood Reporter's entertainment content in the B2B print market in Mainland China.

"China today is marching towards an increasingly open and sophisticated media environment. This licensing deal will greatly help us establish a presence in the international media arena," said LIANG Gangjian, president of China Radio and Television Press by SARFT.

Also under the agreement, THR will serve as the production, distribution and sales platform for Zong Yi internationally, and will publish special issues of the trade online and at international film festivals.

"With Nielsen's long standing relationship with Chinese media authorities and our enduring interest in the Chinese media market, this licensing deal will serve as a pioneer to further stimulate the globalization of Chinese media, while also benefiting THR's readers and advertisers," said Eric Mika, VP of the Nielsen Entertainment and Media Group and Publisher of the Hollywood Reporter.

"We are delighted to be chosen by Zong Yi as the licensor and believe this is the first step on the road to many future collaborations."

Zong Yi is a bi-weekly entertainment trade magazine published in Mainland China with a circulation of 50,000 and a readership composed of key decision makers in the Chinese media and entertainment industry.

With offices in Hong Kong and Beijing, The Hollywood Reporter has a deepening commitment to the fastest growing media region in the world. THR provides news, data and analysis to a global market place that film companies around the world can leverage to make informed decisions.
