Deanna Lee has been appointed Vice President for Communications and Marketing at The New York Public Library.
Lee comes to the Library from the Asia Society, where she was the Vice President for Communications. Previously she had an extensive career in broadcasting as a producer for ABC’s World News and Nightline. Lee will develop a strategy to communicate the mission, resources, and activities of the Library as it proceeds with new initiatives and faces unprecedented demand for its services in a rapidly changing economic climate. In her new capacity she will oversee the Library’s departments of Public Relations, Marketing, Graphics, and Publications.
The New York Public Library recently announced a far-reaching transformation plan to better serve its users in a new era of information needs. It also is moving forward with a wide range of digital initiatives via its website, www.nypl.org, and has just implemented JobSearch@NYPL, a system wide program to help job seekers.
At the Asia Society Lee built a proactive communications strategy establishing the Society as the comprehensive, go-to source for expertise and analysis on Asia-related issues and breaking news. She spearheaded the creation of original Asia Society print and digital content distributed through media partnerships around the world, with a focus on interactive and new media initiatives.
Lee won eight Emmy awards for her reporting and producing at ABC News, where she worked as a senior producer on World News with Peter Jennings, and as overseas producer for Nightline with Ted Koppel. She serves on the National Advisory Council of the Asian American Justice Center, the Board of Directors of Leadership Education for Asian Pacifics, Inc and on the Board of the New York Piano Society.
