Architects, Norman Foster + Partners, have ingeniously woven the best of old and new Singapore into an astonishing hotel - Capella Sentosa.
Craft and design brand LAMONT, based in Bangkok were asked to create sculpture, objects, lighting and furniture with their exciting palette of materials and workshop skills.
Sweeping minimal open spaces are warmed and enlivened with the installations and objects that evoke a world of tradition and craft.
Examples include giant weathered leaves built from myriad tiny parts to create light organic structures.
Silver carp stream across a courtyard wall, giving the illusion of movement through water.
In choosing LAMONT, Capella were looking for a creative team to manage objects and decorative elements of enduring quality, with a sensitivity to the Capella brand and rich environment.
The striking architecture and landscaping called for artworks that spoke worlds of elegance and grandeur while keeping a contemporary tone.
Lamont's success lies in his diversity - product development for clients such as Christian Liaigre, Barbara Barry and Bill Sofield, and interior projects for the Mandarin Oriental Hotels, Chedi Hotels, Aman Summer Palace and The Setai in Miami Beach.
Their flexibility and focus on quality has seen a growing loyal customer base for project and product work.
