Shorter served as president, digital media, for The Minneapolis Star Tribune from 2008 to 2009. Previously, he worked for Cox Enterprises from 1978 to 2008, most recently as general manager of PalmBeachPost.com from 2001 to 2008. Among the other positions Shorter held at Cox were South Florida general manager for Cox Interactive Media, Palm Beach Post director of new ventures, executive business editor, assistant news editor and news desk copy editor.
Shorter has won or shared in numerous professional awards including the 2008 NAA Digital Innovator of the Year and 2008 Presstime Magazine Best Practices Award, and he received the NAA Digital Edge Award every year from 2002 to 2008.
