13th Annual “Sculpture By The Sea” Announced
The world’s largest annual free-to-the-public outdoor sculpture exhibition, “Sculpture by the Sea,” will transform the magnificent 2km Bondi to Bronte Coastal Walk from 29th October to 15th November this year.

Now in its thirteenth year, the Bondi exhibition will draw an estimated 500,000 visitors to view over 100 unique sculptures from artists from every state in Australia and across the world including New Zealand, United Kingdom, Germany, Czech Republic, Denmark, USA, Canada, Argentina, Japan, and Iran.

Exhibition founder David Handley believes the line-up of sculptures in 2009 will be as exciting as ever, “The calibre of entries this year was strong and we’re excited to be exhibiting some of the best outdoor sculptures from across the country and around the world.”

Handley continued, “One of the reasons the exhibition is so popular is because Sculpture by the Sea offers a composite experience of art and nature – the breathtaking sites play a crucial role in how the public view the works, which range from internationally acclaimed sculptors to artists who are exhibiting in a major show for the first time.”

The sculptures are selected from over 500 entries received from across the world. Unrestrained by any curatorial theme, artists are invited to explore sculpture in all of its manifestations resulting in works in all forms and materials across a wide range of techniques and styles.

“Sculpture by the Sea” is a transnational series of exhibitions with a sister exhibition held on Cottesloe Beach in Western Australia - transforming Perth’s most popular beach into a stunning sculpture park overlooking the Indian Ocean. Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe will be held from 4 to 23 March 2010.

The exhibition has grown from a grassroots event run by volunteers to become one of the most popular sculpture exhibitions in the world.
