European Leaders To Head Eurobest Juries

The 22nd Eurobest awards, Europe's largest creative advertising competition, will be chaired by seven of Europe's most distinguished advertising and communication experts. Judging will take place onsite at the Beurs van Berlage in Amsterdam, venue for the three-day Festival.

Matthias Schmidt, Executive Board Member of the Scholz & Friends Group and Creative Managing Director at Scholz & Friends Hamburg, Germany, will head the TV/Cinema, Print, Outdoor and Radio jury.

Sicco Beerda, Executive Creative Director of Euro RSCG Amsterdam, The Netherlands, will chair the Interactive jury.

The Design jury will be led by Jonathan Ford, Creative Partner of Pearlfisher, London, UK.
London-based Nick Waters, CEO EMEA of MindShare has been appointed Media jury president.

The Direct and Sales Promotion jury will be chaired by Jens Mortier, Partner and Creative Director of mortierbrigade, Brussels, Belgium.

Andy Fackrell, Chief Creative Officer of 180 Amsterdam, The Netherlands will head the Integrated jury.

The first ever Eurobest Craft jury will be led by Olivier Altmann, Co-Chairman and Chief Creative Officer of Publicis Conseil, Paris, France.

Commenting on these nominations, Philip Thomas, CEO of Cannes Lions, organisers of Eurobest said, "Eurobest is a celebration of Europe's finest creative ideas in advertising and communications, and to chair the juries who will vote, deliberate and award the best work, we have brought together some of Europe's most highly skilled and respected professionals to lead the way forward."

"Having been part of many international creative juries, Eurobest will be my debut as jury president. I can't imagine a more exciting place to lose that virginity than here in Amsterdam," said Sicco Beerda, Executive Creative Director of Euro RSCG Amsterdam on his appointment.

Nick Waters, CEO EMEA of MindShare said, "Eurobest is a great chance to see how the finest communication minds in the continent have been able to help their clients navigate the economic gloom. Has the crisis sparked some brilliant thinking?"

On leading the TV/Cinema, Print, Outdoor and Radio jury, Matthias Schmidt, Executive Board Member of the Scholz & Friends Group and Creative Managing Director at Scholz & Friends Hamburg, Germany said, "The best European ideas, creative people from all over Europe, in one of Europe's most exciting cities - and all of that concentrated into just three days. I am thrilled to be involved in this special event - during which I don't expect to get much sleep!"

Craft is included as a new entry section this year, rewarding excellence of craft technique in Print, Outdoor, Radio and TV/Cinema advertising, over and above the creative idea of the work. A new category for TV/Cinema has also been added to Eurobest this year, with entries now being accepted for Internet Films, Other Screens (such as mobile phones) and Interactive Films.

Attendees can view all the entries that will be judged during the three-day festival, as well as attend a rich programme of seminars and workshops addressing current issues of the industry in Europe.

This year's speakers will include Paul Lavoie, Chairman and Chief Creative Officer of Taxi; Chris Baylis, Creative Director of Tribal DDB Amsterdam; and Jon Wilkins, Co-Founder of Naked Communications, amongst many others.
