Playfish’s latest studio joins the company’s existing business development focused office in San Francisco, which was established in 2008.
Since Playfish’s founding in late 2007, the company has rapidly established itself as the foremost creator of original and innovative games within the social gaming sector. Tapping into the Bay Area’s world-renown talent base of programrs, artists and engineers will enable Playfish to further bolster its leadership position within the category.
“Playfish and the Bay Area are both known for their cultures of excellence, attracting the best and brightest talent and a San Francisco studio enables us to benefit from the region’s skilled workforce,” says Kristian Segerstrale, CEO and Co-founder of Playfish.
“Through our new team in San Francisco we plan to extend Playfish’s creative and collaborative culture and find new sources of inspiration in our mission to change the way the world plays games.”
In less than two years, more than 135 million Playfish games have been installed and played worldwide over a variety of social networks and mobile platforms. Playfish currently has over 50 million monthly active players across its nine games, resulting in more than 1 billion game play sessions each month. The company’s three most popular Facebook games, Pet Society, Restaurant City and Country Story, attracted more than 32 million players this past August alone.
