New York Dates: 23 March 2010 – 24 March 2010
The British Fashion Council’s (BFC) international design initiative “London Show Rooms” will this season take London’s leading emerging fashion talents to Paris and to New York, in partnership with Centre for Fashion Enterprise, to increase their presence and develop their businesses internationally.
"London Show Rooms" will open in Paris and in New York. The showrooms are partially subsidized spaces for designers to sell their collections with the support of International marketing, media and sales advisers. Sarah Mower, the British Fashion Council's ambassador for Emerging Talent, and chair of the NEWGEN selection committee, will host an opening event at each showroom welcoming media and buyers.
Caroline Rush, CEO (Joint) of the BFC says, “London show Rooms in Paris has been successfully running for three seasons and this season will also be in New York partnering with Centre for Fashion Enterprise. It will give our best young designers the means to further their global business profile.”
“CFE teaming up with the British Fashion Council and their London show Rooms initiative on its fourth New York press event is a signal to buyers, the finance community and manufacturers that these designers are respected, well supported and mean business” says Wendy Malem, director, Centre for Fashion Enterprise.
Designers selected to participate have received sponsorship through one of the British Fashion Council’s designer support schemes: NEWGEN supported by Topshop and Fashion Forward sponsored by Coutts & Co or are at the Centre for Fashion Enterprise or part of independent talent showcase Fashion East.
The Paris showroom will be open at JTM Gallery, 40 Rue Richelieu, Paris, France.
The New York showroom will open at the Soho Grand hotel, 310 West Broadway, New York, USA. It will be held in partnership with the Centre for Fashion Enterprise.
"London Show Rooms" is supported by UK Trade and Investment (which in London is part financed thorough the European Regional Development Fund) and the London Development Agency.
