Hive Awards Announces 2010 Winners At SXSW Interactive Festival
The 2010 Hive Awards, which honors the unsung heroes of the Internet, has announced its winners at a recent 2010 awards ceremony. The awards presentation, held in conjunction with the annual SXSW Interactive Festival, was streamed live by sponsor BitGravity, and culminated with a celebratory after party sponsored by KickApps. The Hive Awards’ Advisory Board and Jury selected seventy winners from entries received from four continents around the globe.

The evening’s big winners included R/GA, Firstborn, and Sapient Interactive. RGA received eight Hive Awards for the following entries: “Nike Kit Builder”, and “Nike Football Tools For The Job”, E-Commerce Web sites; “HBO.com”, Community Web sites; “Nokia Rihanna Live”, Community Web sites; “Nike Training Club” Mobile Apps; “NIKEiD iPhone App”, Mobile Apps; “Nike Kit Builder”, Enterprise Apps; and “Verizon DROID Does Times Square”, Back End Code.

Firstborn was honored with six Hive Awards receiving top honors for “Aflac.com”, User Experience; “2010 Ford Mustang”, User Experience; “2010 Ford Mustang”, Promotional/Microsite; “Puma L.I.F.T.”, Promotional/Microsite; “SoBe.com”, Promotional/Microsite; and “Big Boston Warm-up”, Community Web sites.

Sapient Interactive was awarded five Hive Awards for the following entries: “Food.com Web Site”, User Experience; “LinksysByCisco.com”, User Experience; “HGTV”, Information Architecture; “Talbots.com redesign and re-platform”, E-Commerce Web sites; and “Happiness Factory 3”, Gaming/Entertainment Web sites.

CafeMom, SocialVibe and Lunch.com were each honored with a Hive Award for a three way tie in the Community Web sites category.

The 2010 Hive Awards Top Five highest scoring entries were:

  • Armed with Science: Research and Applications For The Modern Military, (Podcast category)

  • JQTOUCH, (Programming/Coding/Scripting category)

  • Mint.com, (User Experience category)

  • TripIt.com, (Web Apps category)

  • We’re All Fans (The 52nd Annual Grammy Awards), (Data Strategy category)

    The Hive Awards extensive competition categories allow for each entry within a specific industry to be judged separately. All winning entries were selected by the Hive Awards GrandJury and Advisory Board, comprised of industry professionals representing the most influential minds in the web community.

    The 2010 award winning entries will be featured in the Showcase section of the Awards Web site and will be promoted by a network of representatives in 84 countries around the world.
