Mason Unifies Company, Positions Against Stand Alone Specialty Shops

In a move to lead an evolving industry and set the standard, New Haven, Connecticut-based Mason, Inc. has brought together all of its brand strategy and implementation services under a single brand. As a part of this change, Mason Onofrio Public Relations will discontinue as a stand-alone brand and be integrated into Mason, Inc.

In addition to the reunification of Mason, Francis L. Onofrio, APR and Stephen D. Hayes have been appointed co-presidents of the company. Charles T. Mason will remain as CEO. Onofrio and Hayes will share responsibilities for client services and agency management. Each brings distinctive experience in creating brand development and communication programs for clients.

"Having a single brand for Mason, Inc. reflects the needs of today's marketplace," said Charles T. Mason, CEO of Mason, Inc.

"Clients are looking for integrated programs and consistent brand messaging across every point of contact with their customers. Now it just makes no sense to maintain separate companies or even departmental silos for digital, advertising, public relations, promotions, etc."

"At one time, clients sought stand-alone specialists, particularly for digital and public relations programs," said Francis L. Onofrio, APR, president, Mason, Inc.

"That is why we created Mason Onofrio Public Relations. But, maintaining two websites and duplicate social media platforms was pretty silly—not to mention ineffective for what we are trying to accomplish. Branding is all about consistency."

"Fran and I are committed to building Mason into a national powerhouse, and we have a distinct advantage," said Stephen D. Hayes, president, Mason, Inc.

"What separates us from the vast array of newly-created specialty shops is that we have the ability to deploy an experienced strategy and brand development team plus the traditional as well as market-leading new media tactics including social media and digital technology programs."

With more than 25 years of experience in the communication arena, Onofrio joined Mason in 1998 as VP, Director of Public Relations. Before joining Mason, he was director of Public Relations & Marketing at Hartford-based Travelers Insurance.

With approximately 25 years of experience in the advertising and marketing field, Hayes joined Mason in 1984 and assumed increasing responsibility throughout the years working up to becoming an agency principal.
