Cai has been a reporter with Marketing since March 2004 and in that time has built strong ties to the marketing, media and advertising communities in Singapore.
"We spoke to a number of candidates for the critical role of editor but it quickly became apparent that the most obvious choice was already under our roof. Debbie has a passion for the magazine, a solid understanding of what drives the professions we cover and has shown considerable initiative and an impressive competitive spirit," Kelly said.
Cai said this morning she was both ready to take on the role and excited by the challenge.
"I am honoured to be able to head up the market leader in the marketing and advertising publication space. It is a dynamic magazine with passionate people and as a team, there's nothing we cannot achieve," Cai said.
"I am extremely pleased Debbie said yes to the offer. I am confident she will show true leadership in ushering in an exciting era of change for the magazine, the fruits of which readers will start to see in the September edition of the magazine," Kelly said.
"Debbie's remit is not only to make sure Marketing remains the most relevant information source for the Singapore marketing community, but to oversee our growth across new platforms and on both these fronts the magazine will be in excellent hands."
