This year, the MATERIALICA Design Award will be presented by Munich Expo for the fourth time, as part of MATERIALICA, the International Trade Fair for Material Applications, Surface Technology and Product Engineering, which will take place between 10th and 12th October 2006. The project partner of the award is the Design Zentrum München.

Manufacturers, designers, developers and draftspeople from the fields of material applications and surface technology are invited to participate in this international competition.

At the core of the Materialica Design Award are the design-orientated application of materials and the successful combination of technical innovation and design quality. The aim of this competition, which has taken place annually since 2003, is to present the relevance of materials for applications orientated to industrial design and promote new methods for combining material and design along with the successful combination of
innovative materials, technological precision and the challenging design specifications of industrial and consumer products.

For the first time, this competition will have an award for the best student contribution.

The award will be presented to the winners at the MATERIALICA Design Show.
