“Places” will also allow users to create new Twitter Places, which will display nearby points of interests like restaurants and cafes.
The micro-blogging company have integrated this “Places” feature with other location-aware services, including Foursquare and Gowalla.
According to Twitter, “location is a key component of such tweets, so we worked closely with both companies to associate a Twitter Place with tweets generated by these services.”
The service will be made available on both desktop and mobile versions of Twitter. It is expected to roll out to users in 65 countries over the next week.
