Chief digital officer of News Corp Jon Miller said in a statement the reason behind Jason’s departure is his personal desire to return to New York.
“As many people know, Jason is like family to me, and as expected, he’s done everything we asked of him and more,” Miller said. “We’re incredibly grateful for the passion and enthusiasm he brought to the company. There are no plans to bring in additional management.”
MySpace has been struggling this year, with May seeing a 4.5% dip in visitors since the previous month. The 65 million visitors to the site in May is a big drop from 76 million during the same period last year.
Current co-president Mike Jones is likely to step up to be MySpace’s CEO.
