The mobile release joins the previous 10.1 release for desktops.
The release will be made available to phones running Android, BlackBerry, webOS, Symbian, and “future versions of Windows Phone”. The company expects the player to be pre-installed in mobile devices in the coming months.
“We are thrilled that more than 3 million Flash designers and developers are now able to unleash their creativity on the world of smart phones, tablets, netbooks, televisions and other consumer electronics,” said David Wadhwani, general manager and vice president, Platform Business at Adobe.
Adobe has partnered technology and content-publishing companies like Google, Dell, CNET.com and HBO to optimise support and content for mobile devices.
According to Adobe, Flash 10.1 for mobile will support multi-touch operation, smart zooming, and accelerometer-aided device rotation.
Another new feature on Flash Player 10.1 is “Smart Rendering”, which ensures Flash content will only run once it becomes visible on the screen, reducing CPU and battery consumption.
Conspicuously missing from the list of supported mobile operating systems is the newly-launched Apple iOS4. Apple has decided not to implement Flash technology into its devices, claiming the technology to be "waning".
