Mozilla Launches Firefox 4 Beta
Mozilla has released the first beta for its hotly anticipated Firefox 4 browser on 6 July, giving users “an early look at what’s planned”, wrote Firefox director Mike Beltzner in a blog post.
Beltzner hopes users can “help shape the product” by testing the beta and giving feedback (see picture to the right). The company plans to release new beta versions every two to three weeks.
The most noticeable change in the new Firefox is its redesigned interface. Except on Mac computers, tabs have been shifted to the top of the window, and menu bars have been replaced by a single Firefox button on Windows 7 and Windows Vista operating systems.
Other features include a new add-ons manager, privacy improvements, and the ability to watch HD-quality HTML5 video on YouTube.
