Condé Nast Releases Augmented Reality iPhone City Guide

The publishing house behind massive magazines Wired and Vogue have recently released a series of city guide iPhone apps that feature, amongst others, augmented reality as one of its unique selling points.

Under the Condé Nast Traveller title, city guides for Rome, Barcelona, New York and Paris are now out on the iTunes store.

The guides have a fully searchable, GPS-trackable database with augmented reality functionality that allows users to point their iPhones in any direction to pull up from a list of more than 500 listings of nearby restaurants, shops, bars, and so on.

An audio tour guide is also implemented in the apps, guiding users to the editors’ favourite places.

Other features include a travel journal, a historical overview of the cities, and of course, links to articles from Traveller.

The city guides are selling on the iTunes store for US$9.99 and is available on the iPhone and iPod Touch devices.
