AT&T May Lose "Mad Men"
Rainbow Media Holdings, LLC, the parent company of AMC, which owns the hit television show "Mad Men" released the announcement that AT&T U-Verse customers may lose three national entertainment networks AMC, WE tv and IFC when those networks’ distribution agreements with AT&T expire at midnight Eastern Time on Wednesday, July 14, 2010.

AT&T has informed Rainbow Media of its intention to drop the networks if a new distribution agreement is not reached by that time.

Rainbow Media offered the following comment:

“It is troubling that AT&T is threatening to yank AMC, WE tv and IFC, and leave their customers without the hottest show on television, AMC’s Mad Men, just before the premiere of the new season. AT&T is acting in an aggressive manner that puts their corporate interests ahead of their customers.”

The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced yesterday the 62nd Annual Emmy® Award nominations, recognizing AMC with 26 nominations, the most for any basic cable network for the third year in a row. AMC’s Emmy and Golden Globe®-winning original drama “Mad Men,” which made history last year as the only basic cable series ever to win back-to-back Emmys for Outstanding Drama, received 17 nominations and stands as the most Emmy nominated drama on television.
