De Stijl Goes Digital
The Dutch De Stijl movement might have hit its peak in the 1920s, but its digitization has only just occurred. A pair of Russian web developers have brought Piet Mondrian's iconic Composition pieces into the internet age, adding that Web 2.0 interactivity we so love.

Kostya Loginov and Vlad Yakovlev's web app, 'Composition with Javascript', is based off Mondrian's Composition with Black, Red, Gray, Yellow, and Blue that allows you to reconstruct the original painting however you desire.

Customization can be done by dragging the black borders in any direction, while colors can be changed by clicking on the blocks.

The rationale of this project is to "represent the relationship between modernity and postmodernity" and bridge the gap between an artist and the public by allowing participation from the latter, explained the creators.
