In today’s email and QWERTY environment, the pen is slowly fading to obsolescence. But writing instrument maker Pilot wants you to dig up that good old pen again.

Pilot has launched a web app, ‘Pilot Handwriting’, that creates a typeface out of your handwriting.

Just print out a template, fill it in with your beautiful calligraphy skills, and upload it to the website via webcam. The app will read the individual letters, allow you to edit strokes and fills, and create your very own personal handwriting font you can set your emails in.

Sure, you’d only need that pen once, but at least your emails won’t be boring and impersonal ever again.
