The Simplest Flashlight Does Away with Handle
In a scavenger hunt-like design project, London-based Oscar Diaz took parts bought at a one-pound shop to create a stripped-down version of your everyday torchlight.

Instead of trying to emulate something expensive from the barebones parts, 'Standard Torch' is an elegant exercise in reduction. The number of parts were reduced to facilitate cost-effectiveness and ease of use—the handle on this one is actually the base of a nine-volt battery.

The 'Standard Torch' is part of a Bordeaux, France exhibition, "10 x 3: 10 Jours, 10 Objets, 10 Pounds", that had 10 similarly-designed products on display.
