As part of VR/Urban's digital intervention activism, 'SMSlingshot' is a project/installation that helps spread information on public screens through the use of a handheld electronic slingshot device.
Just type a message into the integrated keypad, aim the slingshot onto the LED display and let it rip. A color splash will then appear on the screen with the written message within. It almost seems like magic, but the messages are actually 'shot' using high frequency radio signals and lasers.
This 'digital graffiti' was meant as a statement against the "increased commercial interest of paving public space with digital advertising screens", said the team behind the slingshot.
"People shall not only remain as a passive audience, they must obtain the privilege and beside that the right tools to create their own multimedia content in the streets," they added.
Whatever the rationale is, this is one slingshot that even adults can have fun with.
