Blast Aliens Apart in Stop-Motion Fun

What do aliens, hillbillies and stop-motion have in common? Nothing much, really, but game production company Tuna have combined the three in their soon-to-be released video game, Cletus Clay.

And it isn’t just stop-motion—all the characters in the game were first modeled in clay and then photographed and composited into 3D space, giving the illusion of an “all-clay world”, according to Tuna.

The result is something that blends high technology and the whimsical, handcrafted feel of traditional animation. Even the format of the game—it’s a side scroller!—doesn’t do the whole complex shebang that defines computer gaming today.

Cletus Clay isn’t out yet, though. It will be released for the PC and various consoles in six months.
