Infographic Tells Us What America is Eating

And there are a lot more vegetables than expected. Greens make up 415.4 pounds of an average American’s yearly consumption, compared to 110 pounds of red meat.
Designed by Visual Economics, the infographic breaks down America’s diet in weight—and dairy products make up most of it at 600.5 pounds.
It’s not all good food, of course. Other than the high junk food intake, America is consuming a whopping 2,736 pounds of sodium per individual each year. That’s 47% more than the recommended intake.
But our favorite part of this infographic isn’t its content; it’s the use of the ubiquitous ‘Helvetica Man’ to represent “The Average American”.
