Skyscraper-Sized Billboards to Debut in Miami

The nightmarish city of LA imagined by Ridley Scott in Blade Runner might soon be a reality, if a new Miami zoning law catches on. The city has allowed the construction of a pair of 500 feet high electronic signs, making billboards as tall as skyscrapers.

The Mark Siffin-designed signs were approved not to launch the city into the ‘future’ of advertising but really, because of money. Miami Herald reports that the two giant billboards will mean millions of revenue dollars for the city.

So not only are skyscrapers competing for air space, they’ve now got advertising billboards breathing down their concrete necks.
