Control a Real Life Human Being Through the Internet

If this is the future of the web, we don’t think we’d want any part of it. A new project by 20-year old blogger Dan Brown allows users to dictate his life through the internet, much like a web-controlled robot.

Dan 3.0 was initiated as a “social experiment”, said the blogger, and will last a year starting 2 August. Users can submit what they’d like Dan to do through his website, and he’ll post a video up of himself enacting that very idea.

The concept behind Dan 3.0 is similar to the Leo Burnett project which had one of the agency’s employees life hanging in the balance of the Twitterverse.

This time, however, Dan laid out a couple of ground rules—no illegal activities, nothing ‘harmful’, and so on—and retains the power of veto, which he said he would “never have to use”.

Honestly, the whole shebang smacks of a 15-minute-of-fame scheme, but if this is the way social media is headed—‘interactive voyeurism’, really—then it’s a scary future indeed. Still, if you’d like to submit an idea to Dan, you can do so here.
