Even junk can be transformed into beautiful decorative items.
At this year's London Design Festival, artist Stuart Haygarth revitalizes the marble staircase of the V&A Museum by decorating it with colorful picture frames. Titled 'Framed', visitors are able to admire these temporary adornments strewn about the staircase as they climb up to the museum's architecture galleries.
Haygarth's works are typically characterized by 'upcycling', an environmentally friendly process that takes recycling a step further by remaking waste material into desirable or even valuable items.
Besides Haygarth's installation, other site-specific highlights of the festival include Michael Anastassiades's swinging pendulum light at the Norfolk House Music Room and Oscar Zieta's steel installation at the John Madjeski Garden.
