Anna-Wili Highfield's sculptures may be made of paper, yet her’s differ considerably from the typical origami or papier-mâché pieces.
Styled like taxidermy, the realistic poses of Highfield's paper animals also provide animal-friendly alternatives to those hunting trophies.
These unusual creations of the Sydney-based artist are constructed out of copper pipe and torn pieces of cotton paper. The copper pipe gives her sculptures its basic shape while the papers are sewn together with needle and thread. By sprinkling watercolor and ink, Highfield adds dashes of color to her animal sculptures.
