Granted, writing 140 characters isn’t exactly rocket science, but for a bicycle to get on Twitter and post its latest updates is something different altogether.
‘Precious’ is that bike cruising its way across the US (it’s got an actual human rider for that, Janeen McCrae) that sends tweets out along the way, commenting on the weather, the terrain, and its current location.
To get the bike to send out all these tweets, an on-board device—or, ‘brain’—was installed that captures all its experiences, which is in turn fed into a cloud-based system for analyzing. And finally, it ends up on Twitter.
Before you go on about unnecessary and excessive technology, ‘Precious’ is all for a good cause. McCrae and ‘Precious’ are on a goal to raise money for the cancer foundation LIVESTRONG.
