For the ongoing Provinz exhibition in Lindau Germany, artist Julius von Bismarck installed a giant emotive smiley face icon on top of a lighthouse.
Calling it Feel-o-Meter the emoticon is illuminated by night and is hooked up to a series of machines that can read facial expressions of the city dwellers nearby. Using this data, the emoticon will adapt its expression accordingly, serving as an indicator of the general mood in the town.
