Twitter is experiencing huge strides forward, according to the latest statistics by comScore. Nearly 93 million people visited the micro-blogging site in June this year, an increase of 109% from the same period last year.
Importantly, the number doesn’t include access from third-party applications like TweetDeck, meaning there are probably a lot more Twitter users on a whole that reflected in comScore's figures.
The massive surge means Twitter has “established itself as one of the most-visited social networking sites across each of the five worldwide regions”, said comScore vice president of search and media Graham Mudd.
And Twitter is pushing into new markets. Latin America and Asia Pacific experienced the first and second strongest audience growth, respectively—the former by 305% and the latter, 243%.
The figures underscore the overall tendency toward social media as online ubiquity. Nearly three out of four global internet users access social networking sites each month, according to Mudd.
