World’s Biggest Writing Can Only Be Seen on Google Earth

The world’s biggest Ayn Rand fan has proven his love for the author by traveling 12,328 miles across the US, scribbling his terse message viewable only on Google Earth. The terse dedication read, “Read Ayn Rand”.

Nick Newcomen used a GPS tracker attached to his car as a ‘pen’ to scribble his message. First, he identified a route he would need to take to spell out the message, and then he hit the road, turning on the GPS device when he wanted to ‘write’.

The data was then recorded into Google Earth, resulting in the chicken-scratch that spans across the entire US.

Along the way, Newcomen took videos and pictures detailing his journey, letter by letter, all of which can be viewed on the project’s website.

Ayn Rand, the author of books such as The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged, is also the founder of the philosophical system called ‘Objectivism’.

Newcomen believes that Rand’s work is “highly relevant today”, and hopes his huge shout-out will encourage more people to pick up one of the Russian–American writer’s books.
