Newsweek did up a boxing-themed infographic documenting the neverending battle between print books and their electronic counterparts.
There’s no clear winner, of course, but the graphic condenses a boatload of easily digestible information on the perks and falls of each format.
For example, while an eBook might cost about US$4 less to produce than a print book, the average author royalty doesn’t reflect the disparity—writers get US$3.90 for a book, compared to US$2.12 per download.
As it stands, print sales still have eBook ones on the ropes—the former is reaping 10 times as many dollars as the latter. But the fight isn’t over yet; given the ongoing tablet revolution, the eBook will probably go the distance, and then some.
