Dogs Melt Under Hot Lights

It’s still a dog eat dog world, these canine sculptures seem to suggest.

Brazilian artist Tatiana Blass litters the museum floor with paraffin sculptures of dogs that gradually melt away under the heat of reflector lights.

It’s all rather unsettling, and by bringing the slow and gradual ‘death’ of these dogs, Blass fleshes out the cruel, bestial impulses that hide under society’s civil veneer.

And it is not just about physical violence; the consequences of human apathy can be just as damaging. Just as how we would look casually past decomposing bodies of roadkill, we have become indifferent to the all that violence in the mass media today.
