Recognize any of these images? No? Take a look again; these are actually distorted versions of some of the most iconic brand logos today. (That's the Nike swoosh pictured above.)
Aj Dimarucot embarked on his personal project with a question: “To what extent can we distort famous logos and symbols that they remain easily recognizable?”
He then experimented with the basic shapes of these memorable logos, while keeping them identifiable. Some of these altered creations are more identifiable from a distance (Coca-Cola and Google for instance) and the solely pictorial logos work better even with the added graphic noise.
The Microsoft logo however, is more difficult to tweak because of its typeface. A fairly simple experiment really, but it does illustrate the effectiveness of the image over the word.
