Every Move Creates a Ripple on this Tea Table

Be Zen and not let trifling matters bother you, even if any movement you make can create a tremor on this tabletop.

Yes, there is literally a layer of water on top of the Ripple Effect Tea Table, so the plates are really staying afloat as you sip your tea. And even the slightest movement brings forth the 'ripple effect' across the table.

The tea table is the collaborative work by Hanna Chung and Jeonghwa Seo of Studio Hanna & Seo, two designers who want to explore how culture-specific ideas and mindsets could be translated into a physical design.

While the resultant waves are quite pretty to look at (scenes of pebble throwing across still ponds come into mind), practical concerns make it difficult for such a table to be used in a typical household.

Or perhaps that is precisely the point of this design: to chuck away petty worries for the moment. Just sit back, appreciate the ripples and enjoy your tea.
