In the one-upmanship game that technology companies seem to be embroiled in, Apple has scored points against Google.
Just a month after Google announced 200,000 Android devices were being activated each day, Steve Jobs comes along to burst their bubble with his figure: 230,000 iOS activations per day, according to TechCrunch.
That’s a lot of devices, and Jobs stated that the figure doesn’t include upgrades—but they’re not just for iPhones. iPad 3G devices are probably included in Apple’s calculations, suspects the TechCrunch report.
That said however, Android is still beating iOS on the world stage. Statistics released by Gartner for the second quarter of 2010 showed Android taking 17.2% of the smartphone market, compared to iOS’s 14.2%.
