Control Your iPhone Telekinetically, Almost

First it was buttons. Then, your finger became the input device for touchscreen phone displays. Now, a company has designed a device that allows your brain to control your iPhone.

The PLX XWave headset harnesses the power of your mind so just by thinking it, your iPhone will respond accordingly. It sounds a bit kooky, but this is how it works: By sensing the faintest electrical impulses transmitted through your skull to forehead, the XWave transfers analog signals into digital before inputting them into your iPhone.

OK, so PLX’s description hardly explains anything, but according to them, the device can control objects in a game, and dim or brighten the lights in your living room.

The company is also giving app developers its API so they can create their own mind-controlled app, so a future Angry Birds might be in the cards.

Yes, it comes across as too gimmicky to be true, but it does spark a fun, Jedi-esque conversation topic. If you’ve always wanted powers of mind-control (and who doesn’t?), maybe you could start with your phone first.
