A Fair Look at the City and Nature

The art works of Josh Keyes explore the consequences of human activity on wildlife and nature, but his pieces aren’t just blatant criticism.

Instead of seeing the city as a monstrous threat to nature, these illustrations convey a more conflicted stance—one needs the other to survive, Keyes’ art seems to say.

As these paintings suggest, we can't return to an Eden-like past simply because it has never existed. What we could do perhaps, is to find a balance between our modern needs and the conservation of our natural environment.
