Unless you’re a complete internet geek, probably not. But if you’re interested still, social media marketing firm Flowtown designed a nifty infographic detailing the user demographics of Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and MySpace.

So, the average ages are: LinkedIn (44 years); MySpace (31 years); Facebook (38 years); and Twitter (39 years). It’s not just a teen phenomenon, after all.

But according to the infographic, the 18–29 age bracket still participate the most in social media; about 86% of internet surfers within that group have at least an account on one social networking site. In comparison, only 26% of those 65 and above can claim to use such sites.

Still, the takeaway point behind the chart is how much more older users are hopping onto the social media bandwagon. There’s been a growth of about 33% for all adults who use these sites from 2009 to 2010, and here’s a shocker: there are twice as many users above 65 in 2010 as there was the previous year.

Interestingly, the infographic charts the respondents’ total surfing time as well, comparing the usual web activities like email and getting the news with amount of time spent updating their Twitter, for example.

And while the ‘normal’ activities still eat up most of these adults’ online time, there’s still a respectable number who visit social sites on a daily basis—up to 60% for those aged 18 to 29.
