If talking dogs seemed the stuff of Hollywood dreams, then what about a canine that tweets? A new weird product from Mattel wants to put man’s best friend on man’s best time-waster: Twitter.
Puppy Tweets is a combination of a dog tag and USB dongle that will let dogs use Twitter. The dog tag will sense the movement of the dog it’s attached to, triggering an appropriate tweet from a database of 500 to be posted on the micro-blogging site. No opposable thumbs needed.
Owners will have to create an account for their dog, however; but with the many Facebook profiles of pets, this doesn’t seem like too far a stretch.
Samples of tweets include “Had a wonderful dream about you. You were bringing me snacks!”, when the tag senses a sleeping puppy; and if the dog is active, it might tweet “Chasing everything that moves is definitely a full time job!”
Next up, a tweeting cat, LOLcat style?
