It’s hardly surprising, but an AVG study has found that most babies under the age of two have an online presence. Parents and family members, in celebration, now tend to upload photos and videos of the little ones on social networking sites.
81% of two-year olds have a digital footprint, and 7% of them even have email addresses—we won’t be surprised if Facebook profiles of toddlers start cropping up.
Being the internet security firm it is, AVG pointed out a few concerns on privacy regarding these online identities. Not only are these photos uploaded long before the subjects themselves understand how to access the internet, the images will be up indefinitely—infinitely, even.
”It’s worth considering what kind of digital footprint or online history you want to leave for your child,” it wrote in a blog post. “And when your child is a teenager or adult, what will they make of the information you are currently uploading now?”
