If the headline seems like a repeat, well, maybe it is. Just a few weeks ago, ad agency Grey moved its entire website to Facebook; and now, Argentine creative agency Kamchatka has done the same, choosing Twitter instead.
The idea is pretty simple. Instead of having the usual ‘About us’ or ‘View our work’ tabs, Kamchatka created a separate Twitter account for each category. From a landing account, @kchtk_E, users can then navigate to, say, the agency’s clients (@kchtk_Clients) or its employees (@kchtk_People).
The only way this was made possible was through Twitter’s new two-pane interface. The UI makes it easy to backtrack and move forward within the mini Kamchatka Twitterverse, something the old, one-pane design would’ve made a frustrating chore.
Still, compared to a normal website, it is a hassle to navigate. And it doesn’t look pretty. Sure, you can embed media in the new Twitter UI, but this requires you to follow the account—and since there’s one for each section, this is something most people wouldn’t be too keen on. There’s even a video (below) on how to use the ‘website’.
Innovative? Maybe. But not something you’d see other companies hop on to anytime soon.
