Facebook Apps Found to Leak User Information

In yet another privacy row, Facebook apps have been found to leak user information to advertisers.
In a report in the Wall Street Journal, many data-gathering firms are found to link Facebook user ID information obtained from apps to its own database of internet users.
The Journal also revealed that all of the 10 most popular apps on Facebook were transmitting users’ IDs to outside companies. The apps include Zynga Game Network Inc.’s FarmVille, and Texas Hold ’Em Poker.
Facebook says it is taking measures to “dramatically limit” users’ information to data-gathering companies, but we can be sure there’ll be no end to the privacy troubles dogging the social network. So if you think you’re just planting crops, think again.
