The word has been thrown around so much but ‘geek’ actually existed way back in the 1500s, according to this Flowtown chart. Originally meant as an insult (think ‘fool’), the word has now passed into style.
Usually appended with the word ‘chic’ now, geeks have found their way across almost all subcultures—there’s a film geek for every theater geek and a music geek for every World of Warcraft one.
Our favorite has got to be the ‘design geek’ with his Helvetica V-neck and ampersand tattoo.
