Microsoft Launches In-Browser PC Games Store
By Microsoft / Zying Ng, 26 Oct 2010
Gamers, rejoice. Microsoft has just announced the Games for Windows Marketplace, an in-browser PC games store.
The store is Microsoft’s latest effort to get a piece of the ‘app store’ pie, a move that many a tech company of late has been dipping its fingers into. Apple, similarly, has just announced its Mac App Store, but given the PC’s domination of the gaming industry, Microsoft placed a safe bet in establishing a store dedicated to games.
“With Games for Windows Marketplace, we set out to create a digital store built for PC games end-to-end,” said Kevin Unangst, senior global director for PC and mobile gaming at Microsoft.
The Windows Marketplace is also simple to use. All you need is a Windows Live ID and you start shopping immediately.
Some of the blockbuster game titles include, ‘Fable: The Lost Chapters’ and ‘Grand Theft Auto III’. The store will be launched come 15 November at this website.
