A Facebook Design Reimagination, From Bruce Mau Design

The Washington Post invited esteemed design firm Bruce Mau Design to ‘reimagine’ what Facebook might look like. But more than just a simple graphic makeover, the design team took the time to invent some new features and functions of the popular social networking site.

At the heart of the ‘revamp’, is the ‘Live’ feed on the right panel. By putting emphasis on text messaging and phone and video calling, this simple addition encourages users to “come into real (or at least virtual) contact with the people you care about”, the studio said. So Facebook can be used for more than just stalking ex-girlfriends, Bruce Mau contends.

Replacing the text updates we now see on the newsfeed section is a simple graphical interface, all neatly arranged in a grid. And the feed only provides images from ‘real friends’, or those you “most want to keep in touch with and care most about”, said the studio’s design director Paddy Harrington.
